Tests Prove AC Absorbent Polymers Are Safe to Handle and Apply
Edmonton, AB - June 6, 2008 - Safety is a major issue when it comes to spill, contamination, and waste clean-up. To address this ongoing issue, AC Environmental has developed effective, environmentally friendly remediation products that are safe to handle.
In April 2008, AC Environmental set out to prove that its AC Absorbent Polymers were “safe” to use and environmentally responsible. It enlisted the services of Bodycote Testing Group, a division of Bodycote PLC that provides fully accredited, independent laboratories and highly experienced engineers and scientists for environmental testing. Bodycote Testing Group conducted two rigorous tests, Toxicity and Class II (TCLP – general landfill) testing, on AC Carbon and AC Aqua polymers. The polymers passed the tests with outstanding results.
The toxicity test results demonstrate that AC Absorbent Polymer products are safe for general landfills, instead of the hazardous landfills, and they are 100% non-toxic, which makes them safe for the end-user to handle and apply. “Waste disposal through general landfill greatly reduces the overall cost of a clean-up project,” said Kris Shepherd, Sales Manager, AC Environmental. “By cutting out the hazardous landfill alternative, we’re helping end-users save valuable time and money.” Shepherd recommends that users check in with landfill operators regarding further guidelines and additional requirements before going to the landfill.
The AC Carbon polymers also successfully passed the Class II landfill (TCLP) test on diesel fuel, conducted in March 2008. Results from this testing included the full approval of these products for landfill classification and achievement of the standards set by Environment Canada.
